Although it still seems like the early days of this new year, many things are already afoot at St. George’s!  This Sunday is of course our Annual Meeting of Parishioners, but then we’ve got a couple of significant dates coming up shortly after:

If you’d like to join our Lenten Study on the Book of Esther – includes: palace intrigues, power politics, swashbuckling heroism, treachery, danger, and a beautiful Queen who saves the day (Wednesday evenings, 7pm, Feb. 21-Mar. 28) - now’s the time to order a copy of the booklet we’ll be using.  Everyone will need and want to have their own copy, either in print or e-book (but it’s something you write in, so print might be the most convenient).  They’re available on Amazon.ca and Indigo.ca for about $11.50 ($10 for e-book): Esther: Character Under Pressure” by Patty Pell from LifeGuide Bible Studies."   I’ve pre-ordered a few copies for those can’t order off the internet – just come and see me to get your copy.

Next week, we’ll open registration for the next Healing Past Hurts event, on Saturday February 10 (9:30 am - 3:00 pm).  There will be no charge for participating, and there will be childcare subsidies for those with kids.  This event is open to everyone who was a member of St. George’s going back to our old building, and we strongly encourage everyone from that time to attend, whether or not you came to the event last May.  Even if you don’t personally feel the need to heal from past hurts at St. George’s, it is hugely important when you stand in solidarity with your fellow parishioners in this healing journey.  Together, we are making a new future for St. George’s based on a much stronger foundation.  There will be follow-up Healing Past Hurts event on Saturday April 14 (9:30 am - 3:00 pm), so save that date in your calendars, too.

Shrove Tuesday is February 13, and we’re working on plans for a Pancake Supper with Prince of Faith
Ash Wednesday is February 14.  There will be an evening service with the Imposition of Ashes.  Details to follow.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday – and don’t forget to bring your own copy of the Annual Report and Financials.
God bless, friends.
